Texas and the East Village Split

May 7, 2009 · Leave a Comment

You can order everything from my apartment! I could have clean sheets, fresh produce, an ice cream cone and a falafel delivered (FOR FREE) to my door in about 10 minutes.

I have to say that moving here makes me actually feel like I live in New York. Crown Heights was one hundred times worse than we have ever even talked about. I feel so safe here; It’s so nice to have a neighborhood again!

Justin and Cory are on tour with Old Crow Medecine Show through Texas until Sunday, which I am very jealous of! I have never been to Texas and for some reason I just can’t stop dreaming about it.

Moving Y’all!

May 3, 2009 · 4 Comments

I’m sorry we have been slacking lately! Pierrette and Cory left last night driving down the East Coast to Nashville, and Justin and I are in the middle of moving to Manhattan!

On Friday, we stopped by the 11th Street bar to pick up the gear for the show in Philadelphia and Justin ran into an old friend of his who just so happened to be a landlord. Long story short, we are moving tomorrow morning! It’s absolutely beautiful (I’ll post pictures tomorrow!) and has brick exposed walls similar to our current apartment, with the same parlor floors, but much more convenient. Pierrette is going to hopefully find a place in Williamsburg or by us, but for now we are still keeping the Crown heights apartment. The whole plan is kind of up in the air because of the timing!

Justin’s West Coast Film

April 28, 2009 · 1 Comment

Justin took these with a few of the old 35mm cameras he found at various thrift shops with us. The colors are so beautiful, he went through around 25 rolls of film! These are some of our favorites:

Worcester

Worcester was really fun! The club was half venue/stage and half trailer diner.

We got there early so we were able to hang out around Worcester for a bit.

Train Rides and Owl Salt Shakers

April 24, 2009 · 1 Comment

I know we are on a serious cute binge but I ordered these little guys off Etsy the other night and totally forgot!

Lace Dress, Gunne Sax; Scarf, Hermes; Cropped Menswear Blazer, Silence & Noise; Lace Clutch, vtg.

Tomorrow Pierrette and I are getting up early to get on the train to Albany. Hopefully early enough to get a little thrift shopping in. I bought this white lace dress in San Francisco, it’s Gunne Sax by Jessica and I really want to wear it on the train tomorrow but I think it may be a little impracticable. There’s something about floor length lace that seems perfectly appropriate for a train.

and the perfect matching clutch

Sorry, I can’t get enough! They’re so cute!

Little China and Marshmallow Ice Cream Cones

April 22, 2009 · 2 Comments

Me and Pierrette went to Chinatown tonight for a current business meeting. Of course this only means we put dinner on the business tab, but it was inspiring enough to have us running home to put more things up on eBay.

Before heading home, we stopped in a few markets and one of the adorable pastry shops at Mott and Canal. Look at that wedding cake! I think the staircases were a nice touch.

Some of the things I got at the market on Canal:

Denver and Maggie!

April 20, 2009 · 1 Comment

Denver was awesome. Our friend Skylar flew into town for the day to produce Justin’s recordings for the soundtrack of a new PBS documentary, Coal Country. While they were recording (at the cute house above with the pups!), Me and P took the van to some nearby thrift stores, which revealed Denver to have the best thrifting of our entire trip, by far. Every store was impeccably stocked, and we scored tons of things to put in the shop!

Denver is also home of the fanciest Goodwill store I have ever been in. It seriously looked like a nice department store on the inside. My best friend from high school Maggie now lives in Denver and I was able to meet up with her there! She ventured with us after that on to the show and a late night diner stop before we left for Kansas City.

Justin took these photos while we were girly chatting in our den/the van:

San Francisco

April 20, 2009 · 2 Comments

key switch off!

I just realized I have so many pictures from San Francisco I haven’t posted yet! After getting the assignment of finding a cute hotel for the night (so fun!) we decided to stay at Hotel Kabuki in Japantown. Then Cory and Justin loaded in the gear and we hung out with a bunch of friends in the greenroom.

Then the show went great!

San Francisco

We got back to our hotel pretty late after staying for Jason Isbell’s show and didn’t even notice the unbelievable view that woke us up in the morning!

We got to do a little shopping before leaving in Haight-Ashbury. I also got the most amazing white fur coat. It sheds like an animal, but I’ve come to face the fact that it will take many more years before I find the PERFECT fur coat. This one comes pretty close!

After a few hours we had to leave for Sacramento, and I really want to go back to San Francisco. It was where me and Justin first fell in love and I think it is an amazing city! I miss him so much, but we get to see them on Sunday and they are home for a few days before we all head off to Philadelphia for World Cafe Live and then New Jersey for their show at Maxwell’s.

The weather has been great here lately and I am so excited to stop wearing coats!
